BUTLER IS BACK!

Popular and reliable centre back returns on loan...

THE SADDLERS have completed the capture of Andy Butler from Sheffield United on a one-month emergency loan deal.

The return of the influential and popular central defender will give a big boost to manager, Dean Smith, whose options have been limited so far this season due to a lengthy injury list.

Butler first arrived at Banks’s Stadium in November 2010 and became a reliable and well-respected skipper who won the Player of the Season award in consecutive years.

A key member of the team last term, he made the switch to Bramall Lane during the summer but has found his first-team opportunities limited with The Blades in the opening weeks of the campaign.

“The opportunity has arisen for Andy to go out on loan and get some games, and we’re only too happy to have him back here,” said Smith. “He can help us get back on track and is someone who knows exactly how we work and will fit in straight away.

“We were sad to see him leave during the summer but fully understood the reasons behind his decision. It hasn’t quite happened for him yet at Sheffield United, but in the meantime we’re delighted to be able to bring him in for a month.

“His return will give us all a boost.”

Butler stands by to face Preston North End here at Banks’s Stadium on Saturday (kick-off 3.00pm).
