Sawyers keen to get on a winning run...

ROMAINE Sawyers hopes that last weekend's victory over Chesterfield will prove to be a turning point as we prepare to face another East Midlands outfit in the shape of in-form Notts County this weekend.

"It was an important win for us at the last game," he said without hesitation. "Hopefully it can be a turning point for us and we will be able to kick on from here and get some consistency.

"The plan now is to try and get a few wins on the bounce, something that we have struggled to do so far.

"There are a lot of games coming up and the feeling is that we are not too far away from where we want to be. Performance-wise we have done well over the season so far, it's about turning these into results now."

The Saddlers face a tough test on Saturday as we make the short trip to Meadow Lane to take on a Notts County side who have won six games in a row and sit fourth in the table, having been unbeaten since the end of August.

Our last visit ended in a memorable 5-1 victory in January, but it will be a lot tougher this time around.

"Notts County are in excellent form," added Sawyers. "We put in a great team display the last time we were there and hopefully there will be more of the same on this occasion, with a similar winning result.

"The lads who were here last season remember that game well; Notts County simply had no answer to us.

"The new players that have come in this season have really bought into what we are trying to achieve here and now that we have a fully fit squad, and the competition that comes with that, it all bodes well for the future."
