Boss on JPT win and Bradshaw scan...

SADDLERS’ boss, Dean Smith, was a happy man after seeing his side progress into the next round of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy with a hard-fought 1-0 win at Rochdale.

“It was a really good result,” he said. “I thought that we were excellent defensively and extremely well-organised.

“We knew that we were up against a good team and we came here with a different plan to last time and carried it out well, restricting them to very few chances.

“We moved the ball around well and stood up to the balls coming into our box; things are moving in the right direction; we made a few changes tonight and put some fresh legs in there.

“It was a hard-fought win against a good side and we are delighted to make progress in the competition.”

There was further good news as Tom Bradshaw’s scan on his troublesome hamstring showed no tear.

“It’s just a strain,” added Smith. “Thankfully the scan showed no tear so he’s like to be out for a couple of weeks, which is better than we first feared.”
