Saddlers supporting The Royal British Legion at Saturday's game...

IN THE year that marks 100 years since the birth of the poppy as a symbol of Remembrance and Hope, we are delighted to welcome the Royal British Legion to Saturday's game against Chesterfield.

The Royal British Legion are encouraging people in Walsall and surrounding areas to support the Poppy Appeal for the memory of the fallen and the future of the living.

Saturday’s game will include a bucket collection for the Poppy Appeal by the GVC Air Cadets, led by their commanding officers, Angela Dale Dolan and Michael Dolan, both long-term collectors for the Poppy Appeal of over 30 years.

The fundraising target in South Staffordshire and the Black Country is £650,000, which will go towards the Legion’s national target of £40million to continue its vital work delivering practical, through life care and support to the Armed Forces community.

If you can, please give generously.

Also, at half-time a host of Military Veterans will take to the pitch. Amongst those will be D Day veteran, Ron Davies, The Saddlers’ supporter who appeared on the BBC’s excellent 70th Anniversary D-Day programme earlier this year.

It is an honour to have them all with us on Saturday.
