DEAN DISAPPOINTED

11 October 2014

Boss on set-back at Oldham...

SADDLERS’ boss, Dean Smith, has expressed his disappointment at our 2-1 defeat at Oldham Athletic.

“We started well and finished well, but the bit in between was not good enough,” he admitted. “I felt that we got too stretched and gave possession away too cheaply; we allowed them to dominate the ball.

“We made a bright start and Jordan Cook looked a threat, but once we got in front we seemed to step off it.

“It was a disappointing result and performance; Oldham are a good side, you don’t go that many games unbeaten without having something about you, but we lacked that spark and know-how today.

“A few of my players looked a little dull and it was also disappointing to see both of their goals go in with the aid of deflections.

“We didn’t put enough balls into the box or behind them, so that is also something we will look at.”

Andy Taylor missed the game with a sickness bug.
