BUTLER PRAISES HOME FORM

17 October 2014

Reliable defender looking to build on results in front of Saddlers' faithful...

ANDY Butler has called for his team-mates to make Banks’s Stadium a fortress ahead of Saturday’s clash with Crewe Alexandra (kick-off 3.00pm).

Butler’s loan spell with The Saddlers expires after Saturday’s game with the League’s bottom side and he’s been particularly impressed with our home form since his return.

“We’ve had three good results whilst I’ve been here and we’re looking forward to another challenge this weekend,” commented Butler. “Obviously they had a good result against Coventry last weekend, but as the home side, the impetus is on us to go out there and get all three points.

“We know from our experiences away from home, thinking back to Rochdale and Oldham, that their fans got behind them and made it difficult for us to play. We’ve got to make the Banks’s a tough place for teams to come to and we have done that recently so we need to make sure we continue to get results in front of our home support.

“Anyone can beat anyone in this League and we can’t take any game for granted. We were in Crewe’s position a few seasons ago and you tend to play with more freedom because nobody expects you to get a result.

“They’ll come here full of confidence after their last game so we need to make sure we perform like we know we can. We’ve scored seven goals in our last three home games so we know we are a threat to any side that come down here.”

Saturday’s match up is likely to see Butler face former Saddler, Febian Brandy, whose own loan spell from Rotherham United is also set to expire after the game.

Brandy scored 11 goals in 47 appearances during two separate spells with The Saddlers and Butler isn’t surprised by the impact he’s made since joining The Alex.

“He scored last week and got someone sent off so that’s the Febian we all know!” laughed Butler. “I think similarly to myself he wanted to go out and play games and, fair play to him, he’s back amongst the goals and I’m sure he’s looking forward to coming back here and playing against us.”
