SMITH ON DRAW WITH SHREWS

8 November 2014

Boss looks back at our FA Cup first round clash with the Shrews...

SADDLERS' boss, Dean Smith, has given his verdict on our 2-2 draw with Shrewsbury Town in the first round of the FA Cup.

"I felt that we were the better team over the 90 minutes," he said. "We conceded an early goal, which was disappointing, but we took the game to them after that.

"We could have done a bit better in the final third, but we deservedly got ourselves back into the game. It would have been a travesty had we not been in the second round draw.

"We know that we can be better than we were today, but overall we were the better side out there. The players showed a lot of character as well as urgency and energy.

"It was nice to see Tom Bradshaw bag a brace; he works really hard and is a level-headed lad. He was shackled well in the first half but good players persevere and he certainly did that out there.

"We now look forward to Wednesday and another Cup tie. It's a competition that we feel we can do well in and hopefully our fans will turn up to give us the backing to help us through."
