Youth team slip to defeat at Bury...

THE SADDLERS' youth team went down to a 3-0 defeat at Bury in what was a disappointing display.

"We started the game poorly," admitted Academy Manager, Neil Woods. "Bury looked bright and they got their noses in front on ten minutes with a deflected free-kick.

"We were two goals down at half-time and that was a fair reflection of how the game had panned out. We were very lack-lustre and lifeless in the first half and whilst we livened up a little early in the second period, our hosts got back on top and added a third goal late on.

"It was a disappointing performance; they worked harder than us and were more determined.

"The lads have taken the plaudits with some of their performances this season, but they also have to take the criticism when it is warranted and on this occasion their work ethic and endeavour was nowhere near what we expect."

WALSALL: Jezeph, J. Smith, Lewis, Sangha, K. Rowley, Roberts (Mannion), Delaney, Kouhyar (Oliver), Shakespeare (Reid), L. Rowley, Henry. Subs not used: Owen, Pooni.
