BRADSHAW PRAISES CHARACTER

10 November 2014

Hot-shot recognises the role of his team-mates...

TOM BRADSHAW’S brace against former club, Shrewsbury Town, in the FA Cup on Saturday means that it is nine goals for the season so far for the hard-working front-man.

“Obviously I was happy to get two goals, particularly against my former club, and I was happy that we were able to claw our way back into the game,” he said. “Overall I felt that we put in a good performance on Saturday. It was a topsy-turvy kind of game, but we showed great character to come back from behind twice to get a replay.

“Sometimes as a team you have to be patient and keep chipping away doing the small things right in order to finally get your reward, which was the case at the weekend.”

Bradshaw, who is on standby for the Welsh squad, was quick to praise the part his team-mates have made in his goalscoring exploits this season.

“Everyone has a role to play and whilst I have been scoring the goals, this has only been possible due to the work being put in by my team-mates,” he added. “It’s the same when we keep clean sheets; the defence also recognise the role that the front men play in this too.

“There’s a fantastic work ethic and attitude within the group and that will stand us in good stead.“

Attention now turns to Wednesday evening’s Johnstone’s Paint Trophy Area quarter-final against Sheffield United (kick-off 7.45pm).

“We’re looking forward to the challenge,” he went on. “It’s an exciting game in prospect and with the live television cameras also in attendance, it adds to the occasion.

“We hold this competition in high regard; there’s a Wembley Final at the end of it and a good run can really galvanise the whole club.

“I know that Walsall has never been to Wembley and for me, personally, it has always been a dream to play there, but there is a lot of work to be done before we can think about that, starting on Wednesday.

“We’re unbeaten in three going into the game, but our level of performance has been generally very good for a while now.

“Sheffield United are a good side but we know that on our day we can be more than a match for anyone at this level.”
