FA Cup fever for youngster...

IT'S FA Cup weekend and Saddlers' youngster, Jordan Murphy, will be part of the Worcester City squad that travels to the Ricoh Arena on Sunday to take on Coventry City.

The emerging front-man is currently on loan with the Conference North club where he is benefitting greatly from getting regular, competitive experience.

"It's certainly a lot more physical and competitive than reserve team games, so that can only benefit me," he admitted. "I've settled in well and am really enjoying it. This is a good standard in which I can learn and develop my game.

“Now we have the FA Cup tie at Coventry to look forward to and I am buzzing for it, to be honest. It’s a great draw; it’s a big stadium and a big occasion and it’s nice to be involved – hopefully I will get some time on the pitch, but that is up to the Gaffer!

“I feel that I have given myself a chance with my recent performances, so we will wait and see.

“There’s no pressure on us going into the game; we’re going to prepare correctly and just go out and enjoy it. It’s the FA Cup, so anything can happen out there.”

Murphy arrived at Banks’s Stadium earlier this season after catching the eye whilst coming through the ranks at local non-League outfit, Stourbridge.
He knows that the opportunity is there for him if he continues to work hard and impress.

“The progression is there for all to see at Walsall,” he added. “The reputation of the club is that if you are good enough, you will be given your chance regardless of age.

“There have been so many youngsters who have come through and had the opportunity to prove themselves in the first-team, so I know that I have to keep plugging away and doing the right things.

“This is the ideal club for me to develop in the game.”
