Butler expresses his thanks to The Saddlers...
ANDY Butler has today admitted how difficult a decision it was for him to reject the offer of a new contract here at the Banks’s Stadium. The Saddlers’ skipper arrived at the club in 2010 and went on to become a well-respected figure during his three and-a-half years with us.
“It was a really difficult decision,” he told saddlers.co.uk. “I’d like to thank everyone at Walsall FC, and every fan, for a thoroughly enjoyable time.
“I’ve had an amazing time. There’s been some great memories such as staying up at Southampton and that last minute goal against Rochdale. Scoring against Wolves last season to get the win at Molineux is another memory that will stay with me forever.
“I’ve loved it at Walsall, but I had to think about my family. I have two young children and our family home is in Doncaster. The time spent away from my family has been hard. The travelling is difficult too.
“I’d like to thank all at Walsall for their support and I’d like to wish the players, staff and fans all the best for the future.”
