Reserves lose at Oldham...
THE SADDLERS' second-string went down to a 4-0 defeat at Oldham Athletic."The first 15 minutes or so were pretty even," said reserve team boss, Richard O'Kelly. "It was a bit of a scrappy affair in the opening exchanges with neither team really able to get a foot-hold in the game.
"We then fell a goal behind on 25 minutes and this gave our hosts the impetus as they went on to score three more in quick succession before the break.
"We spoke about a few things during half-time and made a couple of changes and once again the opening quarter-of-an-hour could have gone either way.
"In what were increasingly difficult conditions, we kept battling away and created chances. We were unlucky on a couple of occasions as we went close to reducing the arrears.
"Sometimes you have to go through a bit of pain to gain something. these games are all about development and it was encouraging that we learned from some of our mistakes from the first half to put in a much improved second half showing.
"It's a big learning curve for our youngsters. Credit to Oldham, they were clinical and capitalised on defensive mistakes.
"We refused to let our heads drop and kept battling away."
