DEVON DIARY: SYSTEM ADDICT

17 July 2014

Taylor on a useful run-out..

ANDY Taylor got around an hour of game time under his belt at Taunton Town on Wednesday evening.

The talented full-back was happy with the run-out as manager, Dean Smith, took the opportunity to try out a number of different systems.

“It’s very early days yet,” said the 28 year-old who signed a new two-year deal at the club earlier in the summer. “These games are really like an extended training session, to be honest.

“It’s the ideal chance to work on different systems and tactics, which we did.

“It was a good game; there are things that we need to improve on, but you have to take into consideration that it’s still early in pre-season.

“We were able to work on game-related areas of our game that we simply can’t do in training, so on that basis it is useful for us as we have to have a Plan B and C in our locker.

“There are pros and cons to every system, but we were able to try out a couple on Wednesday. Being adaptable in this way has to be an advantage.”
