DEVON DIARY: O'DONNELL FLYING

16 July 2014

Popular 'keeper feeling fitter than ever...

OUR PRE-season training camp in Devon is providing the ideal opportunity for Richard O’Donnell to get to know his new understudy, Craig MacGillivray.

“Craig’s settling in well,” he said. “He’s taking everything on board and is eager to learn, so it’s been good so far.

“This trip has allowed us to bond off-the-field as well, which is important, and for Craig to get to know the way we work and what is expected.

“We’ve worked hard over these past few days with early morning gym sessions before training, but it is paying off because I feel really sharp and fitter than I have ever felt.

“That will give me a good starting point to build from and hopefully I can push on from here.

“In terms of targets for the season ahead, I want to keep up my ever-present record and better the tally of clean sheets from last season.

“With the new lads that have come in so far, we can approach the new season with confidence; they have settled in well and really added to the group.

“We’re getting into the swing of things now and with the games starting, we’re really starting to look forward to the new season.”

The Saddlers face our first game of the Devon Tour on Wednesday evening when we take on Taunton Town, just across the border in Somerset. The game will kick-off at 7.45pm.
