SMITH ON 'OUTSTANDING DISPLAY'

25 January 2014

Boss on 5-1 away win...

SADDLERS’ boss, Dean Smith, was a happy man after seeing his side run out 5-1 winners at Notts County.

“We were outstanding,” he said. “We played some great football at times and thoroughly deserved the win. It was an excellent team performance with everyone playing their part.

“Our two central midfielders gave us a platform, Febian was clinical and young Mal Benning slotted in so well.

“Some of our attacking play was outstanding; to go away from home against a good side who were in good form going into the game and create so many chances is a real achievement.

“To win so convincingly away from home won’t happen that often in my managerial career, so I will enjoy this moment.

“The downpour before kick-off made the pitch heavy, but we coped well with the conditions.

“The important thing now is to follow this up on Tuesday against Swindon. The ruthlessness and hunger that we displayed today will need to be repeated.

“Our supporters were fantastic and it is nice to give them something to cheer about.”
