SADDLERS EXIT CUP

21 January 2014

Youthful line-up out of the Walsall Senior Cup...

THE SADDLERS went out of the Walsall Senior Cup with a 2-0 defeat at a wet Chasetown.

"We started the game well," said boss, Neil Woods. "We played some good football in the opening 15 or 20 minutes and created a few half decent chances.

"Having said that, we never really got in behind them at any stage of the game and played all of our football in front of them.

"We conceded a couple of sloppy goals in the second half and that changed the concept of the game.

"Credit to our hosts as they played the game the right way and were well-organised.

"I was disappointed in our quality in the last third, but there were also positives to come out of the game for us and we were able to get much-needed game time into a number of players who hadn't played since before Christmas."

WALSALL: Lewis, George, Henry, Heath, Preston, Christopherou, McKenzie, Flanagan, Griffiths, Rush, Morris. Subs: Jones, Reid, Kinsella, Bakayoko, Rowley.
