BOSS ON ROVERS DRAW

11 January 2014

Smith reflects on our trip to Prenton Park...

SADDLERS’ boss, Dean Smith, has reflected upon our 1-1 draw at Tranmere Rovers.

An impressive first half display saw us deservedly go into the interval ahead through Milan Lalkovic, who extended his loan from Chelsea this week, only for our hosts to claw their way back into the game and equalise in the second period.

“After our first half performance, we should have been out of sight,” admitted Smith. “We didn’t keep the ball well enough after the break and made some poor decisions.

“We were good in the first half and, credit to Tranmere, they were good in the second half, so maybe a point was a fair result in the end.

“I felt that we played some really good football during the opening period and deservedly took the lead with a great finish from Milan.

“We had a number of chances after that but we couldn’t add to our lead. Had we managed to do that it would have been game over.

“We move on now; there are two tough home games coming up next week but if we can get positive results out of them, it will make this a good point.”
