Boss reflects on draw at Peterborough...
SADDLERS’ boss, Dean Smith, has reflected upon our goalless draw at Peterborough United in a game that was played in difficult conditions.
“Credit to both teams,” he said. “There was some decent football played considering the conditions out there.
“Our players were excellent and to come here and keep a clean sheet was a credit to them.
“We created the better chances in the first half and then had to be well-organised during the second period.
“I felt that we were the better side in the first half and they edged it after the break, so a draw was probably a fair result.
“It was the response that I expected after last weekend’s disappointment. The players stepped up and did a professional job here. I also felt that James Chambers slotted into the centre of defence superbly. He is a proper defender who will give his all for the cause.
“All in all, it was certainly a competitive encounter between two teams who were determined to win.
“We’ve put ourselves into a great position and there is a real buzz around the place. We can’t wait for the games to come around.”
