MAL MAKING HIS MARK

7 February 2014

Benning pleased with his performances...

YOUTH team product, Mal Benning, is pleased with the way in which he has slotted back into the starting line-up in recent matches.

The talented left-back was a regular in the side during the opening month of the season before returning for our emphatic victory at Notts County at the end of last month after Andy Taylor picked up a knock in the previous game.

"It's been good to be back in the side," said the local lad. "I've had to be patient but I am happy to be in the starting line-up and playing my part.

"The fact that the team has been doing so well has made it easier for me to slot back in and I am really enjoying my football.

"I know that Andy Taylor is closing in on a return to full fitness and he is a very good player, but all I can do is concentrate on doing well and playing to a consistent level.

"I'd like to think that I can maintain the kind of form that I have been in over the past few games and give the Gaffer something to think about.

"I am learning all of the time and have received good support from the staff here, as does every player, and we are responding well.

"We know that it will be a tough game against MK Dons, but we fancy our chances against anyone in this League.

"As long as we stay in and around that top six, we will have a chance. There has been a lot of hard work go into getting us into this position and we need that to continue as there are some big games ahead."
