Boss on trip to The Blades...

THERE are a lot of players fighting for the shirts now and they know that they have to maintain their high standards in order to keep their place in the team.

By the same token, there is a busy schedule of matches ahead and everyone needs to be ready to step in and do a job when required.

We're in the midst of a good run in the League, but we know that we are going to be tested in the games ahead over the festive period, starting on Saturday at Sheffield United.

Richard O'Kelly went to watch them in the League Cup on Tuesday evening and was really impressed with what he saw. We know that they have got plenty of talent amongst their squad and they will be in upbeat mood.

It's a lovely stadium for us to go and play at and these are the type of fixtures that you want to be involved in.

We'll go there with a bit of confidence too; we'll have to be at the top of our game but we are looking forward to the challenge.

Defensively we will need to be organised and bright at the other end of the field.

Andy Taylor has returned to training this week and will be in contention for a return to action. He will be vying for a place with youngster, Rico Henry, who has come in and done superbly well.

Despite his tender years, Rico has displayed maturity and consistency in his performances and has provided me with a welcome selection headache.

The lad is a big talent who has adapted well to life in the first-team having done well for the youth and reserve teams.

The only player unavailable is Sam Mantom. He's resting his knee at the moment and it's a frustrating time for him. Hopefully he won't be far off a return and we'll assess his progress after the festive period.

We look forward to receiving your backing at Bramall Lane as we aim to step into Christmas with a victory.
