SMITH PURRING

Boss beaming after fantastic win...

SADDLERS’ boss, Dean Smith, was purring with delight after seeing his side record a 3-0 victory at in-form MK Dons.

“Tactically we were outstanding,” he said. “I was a little disappointed that we only went in at the break one goal to the good, to be honest.

“We always knew that they would come at us at the start of the second half, but we stood firm and Richard O’Donnell made some good saves.

“It was an excellent performance throughout the team; the lads worked so hard and it was a great start for us. We felt that we could get in pockets of space, and that is how it panned out.

“To a man everyone did their job and we were delighted with another clean sheet.

“It was our best performance without the ball today. We never let our hosts get up a head of steam and it was a thoroughly professional display.

“The result was a just reward for the players as it was a perfect response to our last game. It’s no real surprise to me because I know what we are capable of, the key now is to find that level of consistency.

“We have time to regroup now and be ready to go again at the weekend.”
