SADDLERS SUPPORT WORTHY CAUSE

5 December 2014

HomeServe and Walsall College help to raise much-needed funds for Marie Curie Cancer Care...

A RECENT Charity Match between our Principle Partner, HomeServe, and Walsall College raised over £400 for Marie Curie Cancer Care.

As a club we were delighted to support the event for what is such a worthwhile cause.

Despite the rain, manager, Dean Smith, was an interested spectator and presented the trophy at the end to Walsall College, who ran out 6-2 winners in an entertaining game that was played in the right spirit.

“I was only too happy to show my support for this event,” said Smith. “As a club we have strong links with HomeServe, Walsall College and Marie Curie and I am pleased that all went well on the night and vital funds were raised.

“The weather wasn’t the best, but it certainly didn’t dampen the enthusiasm of everyone involved and it was great to be part of it.”

HomeServe United team manager, Paul Kirby, added: “The atmosphere on the night was fantastic and we’re really grateful for the support that we received from Walsall FC and, in particular, Dean Smith, who went above and beyond the call of duty to watch the game and make all of the presentations at the end.

“It was a successful evening, with the most important aspect being that we were able to raise much-needed funds for such a worthwhile cause.”
