Skipper relishing festive fixtures...

SKIPPER, Adam Chambers, led by example in our 1-1 draw at League Cup semi-finalists, Sheffield United, at the weekend.

“It’s a difficult place to come, there’s no question about that,” he said. “So to come back from a goal down to secure a point is a good result for us.

“We’ve showed character again and got something out of the game, which bodes well for us.

“We set our stall out to make life difficult for teams and defensively we look strong, so it gives us a solid base to build from.”

As an experienced campaign, Chambers knows how important the festive period can be as the games come thick and fast.

This year we find ourselves up against two of the top three with the visit of Swindon Town on Boxing Day followed by a trip to MK Dons two days later.

“I’m looking forward to the festive games,” he added. “We seem to do better against the top teams, so we go into the games full of confidence.

“Anyone can beat anyone in this League, we know that, but we also know that we have to be right at it each time we step onto the field.

“As a footballer you know that you have to be focussed and professional at this time of the year; you get used to it.

“We know that there will be a great atmosphere at our place on Boxing Day and hopefully we will thrive on it.”
