Baxendale seeking Johnstone's Paint Trophy progress...

THE SADDLERS are in Johnstone's Paint Trophy Northern Area semi-final action on Tuesday evening with a trip to Tranmere Rovers (kick-off 7.45pm).

It's a competition that has certainly captured the imagination of James Baxendale, who is determined to help us take a step closer to Wembley.

"This is a big competition for clubs at this level," he said. "It's one of only a few opportunities for us to get to a Wembley Final, so there is a good prize at stake.

"I know the club has never played at Wembley in its history and I've never even been there before - I don't tend to venture that far south!

"That said, we know that there is a still a lot of work to do before we can even think about that, starting at Tranmere on Tuesday.

"We've had a couple of good wins in previous rounds, so we're looking forward to this one and hopefully our progress will continue.

"We're certainly getting back to where we want to be in terms of performances and results, and there is a real positive feeling around the place.

"It's going to be a battle at Tranmere, but we're hungry for it and can't wait to get back into action having had a free weekend.

"From a personal point of view, I want to get a level of consistency in my performances so that I can keep the shirt. Being out there means everything to me and long may it continue."
