Boss on production line of young talent...

THE SADDLERS’ production line of young talent continues to bear fruit with Reece Flanagan the latest home-grown youngster to be given his first-team chance.

So far this season, five youth team products have been involved in first-team action with Liam Kinsella earning rave reviews for his performances at right-back, Kieron Morris weighing in with his first senior goal at Southend, Mal Benning slotting into a more advanced role out wide, Amadou Bakayoko giving us an extra option off the bench and Flanagan showing the ability that has marked him out as one to watch whilst coming through the ranks.

There are more players waiting in the wings from a youth team that has started the campaign in an impressive fashion, including 17 year-old Rico Henry who has already penned a professional deal.

“There is a great production line here,” enthused manager, Dean Smith. “The Chairman is extremely supportive of the youth system and it is certainly paying dividends.

“We invest a lot of time, effort and resource into it as it is essential that we are able to produce our own players. As a club it is something that we are passionate about.

“Lads like Liam Kinsella have really stepped up to the plate already this season and now Reece Flanagan, a player we have lauded for some time, is getting his chance to show us what he can do.

“Add to that the likes of Mal, Kieron and Amadou who are all important members of the squad plus the other young lads who are working extremely hard to get their opportunity, and there is plenty for us to look forward to.”

There will be an interview with Reece Flanagan here on saddlers.co.uk and Saddlers Player on Friday...
