Saddlers battle into next round of the Capital One Cup...

SADDLERS boss, Dean Smith, has reflected upon our hard-earned 2-1 Capital One Cup victory at Southend United.

“It was a thorough examination for us,” he admitted. “I felt that we did okay in the first half but lost our way a little after the break and had to withstand some pressure.

“Both of our goals came following wonderful moves and it was a great strike from Kieron Morris to win it near the end.

“We expected to come under pressure here; they are a good side and it was a tough test for us.

“I’m really pleased that we were able to come through it in the manner that we did and now we look forward to what the next round holds in store.

“Some of our one-touch football was outstanding and it was nice that both of our goals came from Academy products.

“The games are coming thick and fast now and we look forward to our first home game at the weekend.”
