LEARNING CURVE FOR YOUNGSTERS

13 August 2014

Goalless draw against stubborn Accrington...

THE SADDLERS' youth team played out a goalless draw against a stubborn Accrington Stanley at the weekend.

"It was a very frustrating game for us," admitted Academy Manager, Neil Woods. "That said it proved to be a valuable learning experience for our boys.

"Our visitors came with a well-worked plan and they carried it out well, making life difficult for us, particularly in advanced areas.

"We had lots of possession without creating many worthwhile chances during the opening period and then after the break we looked bright and created a couple of things only to find our visitors in stubborn mood.

"We were lucky not to concede a penalty from a counter-attack, but although frustrating, we will put this game down to experience and give Accrington credit for carrying out their game plan.

"Our work over the next few weeks will be centred around how to deal with this kind of situation."
