BRADSHAW BRACED FOR SEASON OPENER

8 August 2014

Summer signing can't wait to get started...

SUMMER signing, Tom Bradshaw,  found the net seven times in 30 games during the last campaign and insists it was the ambition of the club that convinced him to make the switch from Shrewsbury Town.

“To go into a new season with the expectations of doing well is something I haven’t had for the past three years," he admitted. "Pre-season has been great. We’ve done all of our fitness work; we’ve got sharper and fitter and got a lot of game time in as well.

“You can feel the atmosphere amongst the players and I can’t wait for the season to start."

The former Wales Under-21 International came through the ranks at Aberystwyth Town and despite his age, made nearly 100 appearances for The Shrews.

Now Bradshaw is hoping to make his mark for Walsall and is confident The Saddlers can get off to a flying start this Saturday.

“I think for any striker, 15 goals is what you want to aim for," he went on. "Obviously that depends on how many appearances you make but I’d like to score as many as possible for both the team and myself.

“It’s going to be a tough game against Port Vale but during pre-season we’ve played teams that like to pass the ball and those who play more direct and into the strikers.

“We’re prepared for any team that we will face and we’re confident we can come away with the three points."
