Baxendale ready for the start of the new season...
WE'RE just days away from the start of the 2014/15 season and James Baxendale can't wait!""I'm really excited for the start of the season now," he said after appearing during the second half of our 1-0 defeat at the hands of Aston Villa. "The hard work has been put in; we've played a lot of games and got our fitness levels up to where they need to be.
"I must say that I have been impressed by the young lads this summer. Their performances have been excellent in the pre-season games and they have looked sharp in training too.
"My old man said the other day that I'm one of the veterans in the team these days because we have so many younger lads who have come through.
"There are some good characters in the team and there's a lively atmosphere around the place that's going to serve us well during the season ahead.
"From a personal point of view, I just want to play as many games as I can and get my goals tally up."
The Saddlers start the season with a trip to Port Vale on Saturday (kick-off 3.00pm).
