TEAM TALK v PORT VALE, 5/4/14

Boss on trip to Valiants...

AS WE enter the final month of the regular season, all we can do is concentrate on our part of the bargain and win games.

We focus on the task that we face against Port Vale now. I was there to see them secure a good win on Tuesday evening and, as such, there is still plenty to play for for both sides.

Things can change very quickly and there are still a number of teams vying for that sixth place. Vale are a top half team; Micky Adams has done really well and had the team challenging up there all season.

We know that we will have to be at our best against a good side. It's a competitive League this year and both teams will have the belief. There has not been a lot between the teams in our two meetings already this season.

They have proved that they can mix it with most teams this season and so have we.

We will be without Craig Westcarr who is suspended following his red card in the last game. He is disappointed about it, of course, and now has three long weeks to reflect on his actions.

There are numerous options available to me in order to replace him. One of them being Milan Lalkovic who has had treatment at Chelsea and returned to training on Thursday. It's good to have him back and available for action.

I have an idea of what I want to do, but will be looking closely at the lads in training in order to work out what is the right way to go.

Hopefully there will be a good turnout of supporters making the short trip to give the players the backing that they need and deserve.
