Season ends with draw in the wind at Port Vale...

THE SADDLERS' second-string ended their Final Third Development League West Division campaign with a 1-1 draw at a windy Port Vale.

"I thought that we were excellent throughout," beamed reserve team boss, Richard O'Kelly. "We started the game well in blustery conditions and passed the ball around sharply.

"We conceded against the run of play on the quarter-hour but we kept to our beliefs and failed to let our heads drop.

"Our equaliser came with a wonderfully-crafted goal as eight or nine passes ended with Danny Griffiths finding the net.

"Kicking into the wind during the second period, we controlled the game and there were a lot of good performances all over the pitch.

"Despite our best efforts, though, we failed to find a winner and had to be content with a share of the spoils."

WALSALL: Jones, George, Benning, Purkiss, Christopherou, Featherstone, McQuilkin, Heath, Hewitt (McKenzie), Griffiths, Morris. Subs not used: Dallison, Rush, Lovett.
