OPEN TRAINING SESSION A SUCCESS

14 April 2014

The Easter holiday kicks off in fine style here at Banks's Stadium... and there is more good news!

THE SUN was shining on Banks’s Stadium on Monday for our latest Open Training Session as the Easter holidays kicked off in fine style.

Saddlers’ boss, Dean Smith, welcomed the 300-strong crowd with an on-the-pitch interview before the players were put through their paces under the watchful eyes of Richard O’Kelly and Jon Whitney.

The players took part in their usual Monday morning routine of strength and conditioning work plus recovery as the preparations for our Easter weekend fixtures got underway.

Once the session was complete the players signed autographs, had their pictures taken and chatted to supporters.

“It’s great to be able to do this kind of thing,” said manager, Dean Smith. “The weather was kind to us and the day went really well.

“The relationship between the players and supporters has been excellent during my time as manager and events like this only strengthen that bond even further.

“It’s was great to see so many youngsters here and enjoying the sessions that we put on. As a club it is important for us to tap into that next generation of support and giving fans this kind of access can only help us achieve this.”

The good news doesn’t end there as we stage our latest Family Fun Day at our next home game against Gillingham on Bank Holiday Monday, April 21st!

The theme is The Great British Sports Day and we’ll have something to suit all sporting tastes with tennis and badminton speed nets, archery and a five-a-side football pitch courtesy of our friends at Decathlon, blow-up golf nets and equipment from Walsall Golf Club, who’ll be sending their professional, Daniel Higgs, along to offer hints and tips in association with the Staffordshire Golf Partnership and a Climbing Tower from Walsall Council for the brave ones amongst you!

As well as this we’ll have the Walsall FC Community Programme’s inflatable goal plus Easter fun and competitions, including Thornton’s Chocolate Lollipops to give away. There’ll also be giveaways from Sport Relief, courtesy of Sainsbury’s Reedswood, and free England car flags to celebrate St. George’s day... limited numbers available, so get down early! The fun starts at 1.00pm.

If that’s not enough, we will be offering a special ticket deal whereby an adult and up to two juniors can attend the match for just £10*!

Come and join in the fun! Tickets can be purchased from the Banks’s Stadium Ticket Office, open Monday to Thursday, 9.00am until 4.30pm and 9.00am until 2.00pm on Good Friday, or by calling 01922-651 414/416.
