Midfield man takes the positives...

MIDFIELD man, Adam Chambers, was disappointed as we came away from Port Vale with nothing to show for our efforts as a second half penalty saw us lose 1-0.

“We came here looking for the win,” he said. “We had some promising spells in the right areas but we failed to find a pass or shot when it mattered.

“We didn’t trouble their ‘keeper as much as we should and we were hard done by with the penalty; Paul got his body there and the decision against him was harsh to say the least.

“We know that we have to improve our goalscoring tally and it is something that we are working hard at in training.

“We’re creating the chances, which is a positive thing, but we’re not clinical enough at the moment.

“There’s a lot of jostling going on for that sixth place and it’s sure to continue in the weeks ahead. We will keep going and look to win our last five games and then see where it takes us.

“Whatever happens we want to finish the season strongly. We’ve been there or thereabouts throughout and want to maintain that so we can end the season on a high.

“The foundation is there and it feels as though we are building something here. It’s not going to happen overnight, but we are improving as a team and have some young and hungry lads who will continue to work hard.

“The defence has been solid for much of the season and we’ve enjoyed some good possession in games, we just need to improve in and around the box as a group and get that level of consistency.

“I feel confident that we can have a positive finish to the season and we’re looking forward to the next game coming around.”
