Return to winning ways for youth team...

THE SADDLERS' youth team got back into winning ways with an excellent 4-0 victory over Oldham Athletic.

"After the disappointment of the previous week, the response I got from the lads was just what I was looking for," said Academy Manager, Neil Woods. "Throughout the week and in the match itself they gave me everything and ran out worthy winners.

"It was our opponents who actually started brighter and they created a couple of early chances. We managed to get into our stride and started to move the ball around quickly.

"It culminated in an opening goal from Alex Reid before we doubled our advantage just before the break when Carlton McKenzie did well to set up Amadou Bakayoko who made no mistake.

"We were showing a real competitive edge and should have been further ahead going into the interval.

"We were even better after the break and added a third with a smart individual effort from McKenzie.

"This was followed up by another sweet strike from Tevin Shakespeare, who got his name on the scoresheet for the first time.

"The reaction from the last game was the most pleasing aspect; the stats show that we passed the ball more times than we have done in any other game this season and also we won the ball back more.

"I am full of praise for the lads."

WALSALL: Jones, Ashmore, Henry (Probert), Kinsella, K. Rowley, Chritopherou, McKenzie (Shakespeare), Delaney, Bakayoko, Rush, Reid. Subs not used: Dallison, Lovett, Garner.
