FANTASTIC WIN
THERE was plenty of noise from both sets of supporters to greet the two teams for this local derby clash.The Saddlers got the game underway as the early action saw Bjorn Sigurdarson lash an effort just wide for the home side whilst Walsall looked to get on the ball and pass it around.
Shortly afterwards a foul on Sam Mantom gave Walsall a free-kick in a good position which Craig Westcarr curled onto the top of the crossbar.
The Saddlers looking purposeful at this stage, being bright and alert to win the ball and a cross from Mantom was gathered in front of goal by Carl Ikeme.
Wolves threatened when Sigurdarson went on a marauding run that ended with Sako firing across the face of goal. It was the home side's best chance so far.
The Saddlers had a couple of free-kicks out wide that came to nothing in what was a keenly-contested encounter.
A couple of Walsall corners ended with loud appeals for a penalty for handball before Paul Downing lifted his effort over.
There were a couple of smart stops by Richard O'Donnell, firstly as he smothered at the feet of Doyle and then tipped over Sako's free-kick acrobatically.
The end of the half saw a fine reaction save from O'Donnell to deny Doyle as The Saddlers were left to reflect upon a half in which we showed plenty of endeavour and energy.

The hosts started on the attack as Doyle went close, whilst at the other end an Andy Taylor ball into the mix evaded everyone before the same played fired an effort over after a free-kick pumped into the box was only half-cleared.
The Saddlers defending resolutely to frustrate our hosts, who made a double change in a bid to find more joy.
With 69 minutes on the clock, an Andy Taylor free-kick out wide is headed back by Baxendale for Andy Butler to give Walsall the lead. Cue massive celebrations in the away end!

With just under ten minutes to go Milan Lalkovic and Romaine Sawyers on for Hewitt and Westcarr.
As Sawyers looks to break, Danny Batth times his tackle well to halt the danger.
Milan Lalkovic was so close with a free-kick after Ikeme floundered and handled well outside his area.
As The Saddlers continued to battle well and frustrate the home side, Andy Butler marshalled his troops superbly, whilst we had a couple of chances to kill the game off and in the end we played out a deserved victory to bring home three good points and a clean sheet.
