Boss reflects on derby day triumph...
SADDLERS’ boss, Dean Smith, has expressed his delight at our 1-0 derby day victory at Wolves.
“It was a very good win,” he said. “This is a difficult place to come but as a team we were defensively excellent and restricted them to very few chances.
“My only concern was that we had a couple of late chances to extend our lead which we didn’t take, but the lads played out a deserved win and a clean sheet.
“This was a professional performance where we took the belief from our win at Crewe into it. The midfield was excellent and made life difficult for our hosts.
“We had great support here tonight and it’s nice to give our fans the bragging rights. That said, it’s only three points and now we have to prepare for another tough game on Saturday.
“We will enjoy this but come back down to earth quickly and get ready to go again at the weekend.
“We’ve got a number of leaders in the team and a real spirit and togetherness. These qualities are serving us well but we must make sure that we don’t get too complacent.”
