Second-string earn victory...

THE SADDLERS' second-string played out a deserved 1-0 victory at Morecambe on Tuesday evening.

"It was a very good game," said reserve team boss, Richard O'Kelly. "It was just the sort of game that you want for a development group as it was two teams with differing systems.

"Our hosts were organised and competitive and it proved to be a great learning environment for our youngsters.

"I felt that we were in control both with and without the ball in the first half; we dealt with everything that came our way and managed to get our noses in front early on thanks to a penalty from Danny Griffiths.

"They got on top after the break but there were spells where we did okay before I changed the system towards the end and we finished strongly, in fact, we could have added another goal or two to make the game safe.

"There were some excellent performances all over the pitch, but I thought that young Liam Kinsella did particularly well, whilst Alex Dallison also gave a good account of himself. Danny Griffiths and Kieron Morris worked hard and were lively, whilst Liam Roberts is showing maturity and improvement with every game he plays.

"All in all it was a good night's work for us."

WALSALL: Roberts, Dallison (Bakayoko), Holden, Preston, Kinsella, Flanagan, Heath, Benning (Henry), Gray, Morris, Griffiths. Subs not used: Jones, K. Rowley.
