HEAD-LINER HEMMINGS

5 September 2013

First headed goal for Hemmings at former club...

ONE-TIME Wolves youngster, Ashley Hemmings, got his name on the scoresheet in our 2-2 Johnstone's Paint Trophy draw at Molineux on Tuesday evening with a rare headed goal.

"It's the first senior goal that I've scored with my head," beamed the 22 year-old. "For it to come at Wolves was an extra bonus, but obviously we were disappointed to lose on penalties in the end.

"We started the game slowly and were guilty of giving them too much of the ball early on, but we got ourselves back into it and got better as the second half went on. Even after the disappointment of conceding the penalty, we still kept at it and it was a great comeback.

"The level of performance during the second half showed what we are capable of and we need to maintain these standards. We will take the positives from it and really kick on.

"We have a really committed group of players and coaching staff here; we didn't get too down after our defeat at the hands of Preston because we knew that the performance was just a blip.

"We've got a free weekend coming up and it will give us the chance to recharge our batteries and get ready to go again because there are some big games coming up later this month."
