CAPTAIN'S ROLE

18 September 2013

Butler leads by example...

ANDY Butler played a captain’s role at Molineux on Tuesday evening as he marshalled the back-line superbly and scored the winning goal.

“That’s two superb away performances in a row, six points and two clean sheets,” he said. “We played some good stuff out there and that is credit to the Gaffer and Richard O’Kelly.

“They drill this style into us in training each day and we’ve certainly showed what we are capable of.

“It was a special goal for me; you can’t ask more than a 1-0 away win at your local rivals!

“It was a team performance where everyone played their part and we finished the game strongly, which is credit to the fitness work we do with Jon Whitney and his staff.

“No-one shirked the challenge. We rolled our sleeves up and worked hard and Wolves just couldn’t live with our tempo.”

Butler was relieved to see the ball hit the back of the net for his first goal of the season.

“I missed a good chance in the last game,” he went on. “But the ball fell nicely to me and my only thought was to get it on target.

“These are the type of occasions that we have to enjoy. We can’t stop smiling but we now that our focus now has to turn to Saturday’s game and what is another tough challenge against Rotherham.”
