BIG WEEK FOR O'DONNELL

12 September 2013

Goalkeeper buzzing...

IT’S BEEN quite a week for Saddlers’ goalkeeper, Richard O’Donnell.

It started with the birth of his first child, Archie, on Tuesday and has continued today with his 25th Birthday. Hopefully it will end with three points at Crewe on Saturday.

“It’s been a good week,” he said with a broad Yorkshire smile. “I’m really buzzing at the moment.

“I’m really proud of my partner, Laura, and being a dad is such a fantastic feeling. Spirits are certainly high and hopefully this feel-good factor will continue with three points at the weekend.”

Like the rest of his team-mates, O’Donnell can’t wait to get back into action as we travel to Crewe Alexandra on Saturday.

“It was nice to be able to relax last weekend and recharge our batteries, but now we just want to get out there and play.

“We’ve had a productive week on the training ground and we are ready for the challenge ahead.

“It should be a good game; both clubs have similar philosophies and try to play the game the right way.

“We’ve had a tough run of matches, but during them we’ve showed what we are capable of defensively and attacking-wise.

“There are areas in which we need to improve, we know that, and we are working on them.

“From a personal point of view, I feel that I am doing well. I’m enjoying getting a run of games and will only get better the more games I play.”
