Featherstone on first-team return...

NICKY Featherstone has made a big impact in his first two League starts of the season, playing a key role in our excellent victories at Crewe and Wolves.

Joining Adam Chambers and Sam Mantom in the engine room of the side, it’s a system that has served us well.

“The three of us have a good understanding,” he said. “We know each other’s game well and where to be and not to be.

“Beyond that, the team as a whole has been organised and solid with everyone playing their part and working extremely hard.

“For me it’s nice to be back in the team and hopefully I have done enough to stay there. It’s been a case of waiting for the chance to come and then taking it and with the results we’ve had, I’d like to think that I have done that.

“To win at Wolves means a lot to everyone at the club, but it is nice to be able to give our supporters the bragging rights.

“That said, it was just three points, the same as any other win, and now we have to be ready to go again and continue picking up points.”

The Saddlers return to home soil for the first time since the end of August on Saturday as we face a Rotherham United side who are yet to taste a League defeat since their promotion at the end of last term.

“Rotherham have adapted well to this level,” added the former Hull City man. “They have had a bright start to the season and have proved that they can score goals.

“It will be another tough one for us, but it’s one that we are looking forward to.

“It’s been a while since we have played in front of our own supporters, so it’s nice to be back here and hopefully we can put right our last result here.”
