SMITH REFLECTS

Boss on home set-back...

SADDLERS' boss, Dean Smith, has reflected upon our 2-0 home reverse at the hands of Bradford City.

"It was a disappointing result," he said. "I felt that 0-0 would have been a fair result going into the interval but you just can't legislate for the goal that gave them the lead right on the stroke of half-time.

"It was a wonder-strike and gave them a boost going into the break.

"There were positives to come out of our first half display; our ball retention was good and after weathering something of a storm for the opening five minutes, we were in control for long periods, without troubling them too much.

"The second goal was a poor one because we are better than that defensively and for it to come so early in the second half was another disappointment.

"But we played some good stuff after that and if we perform like we did for the final 30/35 minutes, we will win more than we lose this season.

"We couldn't take our chances, but the pleasing thing is that we are creating opportunities. As a manager it's when you are not creating chances that you have to start to worry.

"To be fair to Bradford City, they are a good, organised team who have started the season very well, but we are determined to bounce back in the right way next week."
