JUSTICE DONE FOR BUTLER

2 October 2013

Skipper happy to see red card rescinded...

SADDLERS' skipper, Andy Butler, was a happy man after seeing the red card that he received at Leyton Orient rescinded on Appeal.

"At the time I was convinced that I won the ball cleanly," he said. "I went in quickly but never endangered my opponent. When someone of my size goes in for a challenge, it is always going to be ‘strong’, but I didn’t even think it was a foul, let alone a sending off!

"Maybe the fact that it happened near to the touchline by the dug-outs made the situation appear worse than it was? Their lad didn’t even require treatment.

"I would like to thank the gaffer, Richard O’Kelly, Dan Mole and James Troup for their work in winning the Appeal. Justice was done in the end and I am grateful for their efforts.

"We will never know the outcome had we kept 11 men on the pitch, but the lads put in another excellent performance where we made Leyton Orient, who had won eight out of eight don’t forget, look average."
