LALKOVIC HAPPY TO START

11 November 2013

Loanee plays his part...

MILAN Lalkovic made his first start in just over a month at the weekend as we stormed into the second round of the FA Cup with victory over Shrewsbury Town.

The Chelsea loanee put in a lively performance, which he hopes will see him keep his place for the next game.

"It's been a bit stop-start for me so far," he admitted. "I've been in the team then gone away on International Duty and been on the bench for a few games.

"But I feel good at the moment and have been training well.

"It was a great performance by the team against Shrewsbury and I was happy to play my part in that. Some of the football that we played was very good and I enjoyed the game.

"Hopefully I can keep my place for the next game. I will continue to work hard and keep fighting so that I can take my chance.

"I am the type of person who takes each day as it comes; if I do my best then that is all anyone can ask.

"This is a good League for me to be involved in at this stage of my development. It's hard and physical with teams trying to press. It's the ideal place for me to learn.

"The coaching staff are also very good to me here and are always on hand with help and advice, as they are with the rest of the lads.

"It's a good environment and we have some talented young players here who can play in a number of different positions, which gives the manager good options.

"As a team we are progressing well. We have a big game coming up against Peterborough United, which we are looking forward to. They are up there challenging at the top of the table, but we know that when we're on our game, we can be more than a match for anyone at this level.

"Hopefully we can keep playing the way we did at the weekend and enjoy some positive results."
