BUTLER READY FOR BATTLE

29 November 2013

Skipper looking to continue fine home form...

SKIPPER, Andy Butler, leads The Saddlers into battle on Saturday as we take on a Port Vale side who find themselves just one place and one point behind us in the League One table.

"It shows how far we have come as a team that we were disappointed to only bring home a point from our trips to Crawley and Sheffield United this week," he said. "On both occasions we played some decent stuff and created chances, with everyone working hard and playing their part.

"What it does do is extend our current unbeaten run to four games and we will be looking to build on our recent home performances against Port Vale on Saturday.

"They have done well so far this season and find themselves just a point behind us. We beat them at their place earlier in the season in the Capital One Cup, so something similar would be most welcome!

"There is sure to be a large and vocal crowd here for what is a local derby. We are looking forward to it and, hopefully, we will be celebrating the right result at the end.

"The whole team is working together to nullify our opponents and we have looked solid in recent games. It’s about continuing to work hard and doing the things that are serving us well."

Supporters are reminded to bring along new toys to Saturday's game as the Walsall Football Supporters Trust will be holding their Annual Toy and Food Collection.

Look out for their red gazebo on the main car park from 1.00pm. The toys will then be taken by Andy Butler and the rest of the team on their Christmas visit to the Children's Wards of the Walsall Manor Hospital.
