Deserved victory at Carlisle for youth team...

THE SADDLERS' youth team ran out worthy 4-0 winners at Carlisle United.

"After a long journey north, the lads started at a good tempo," said Head of Academy Coaching, Graham Biggs. "In wet conditions, neither side managed to get a foot-hold in the game in the opening exchanges.

"We started to get into it as the half went on and following a good spell of pressure on the half-hour mark, we took the lead through Reece Flanagan.

"We continued to press in the wake of the goal and skipper, Matt Preston doubled our advantage with a header from a well-taken corner as half-time approached.

"After the break we continued to play our passing game, which got increasingly difficult as the pitch started to cut up, by we were able to extend our lead with 15 minutes to go through Jacob Hobbis.

"There was still time for a fourth goal when Alex Reid found the net to make it a very enjoyable journey home.

"This was a very professional performance by our boys with youngster, Rico Henry continuing to impress having recently come into the team.

WALSALL: R. Jones, Kinsella, Henry, Heath, Christopherou, Preston, Hobbis, Flanagan, Griffiths, Rush, Reid. Subs not used: Bakayoko, Ashmore, McKenzie, Sinton, Lovett.
