WESTCARR ON A HIGH

6 March 2013

Front-man loving life at Banks's Stadium...

HAVING put in a number of intelligent and busy displays, Craig Westcarr finally got the goal that his efforts have deserved last weekend as he found the net in our 3-1 victory over Shrewsbury Town.

The 28 year-old returned to the club on a permanent basis in January having previously been on loan from Chesterfield.

"It was nice to score, but the main thing was that we put in a great performance that brought three points," he said. "It was good to get off the mark at last but my main goal is to get higher and higher with these boys.

"From the first day that I arrived here, I was asked to play this role just behind the main striker and it's been a perfect fit. I'm really happy here and to see the team winning matches and challenging at the right end of the table is fantastic.

"It's about continuing to be hungry and just enjoying our football. The harder you work, the better the rewards.

"There's always been belief here. When I first came in and the results weren't as good, I couldn't believe how good the atmosphere and team spirit was. Everyone involved has worked so hard to get where we are and we need to keep doing that."

Westcarr was also wholesome in his praise of Will Grigg. "He's doing really well," he added. "He can go as far as he wants to in the game. I just want to help him get as many goals as he can.

"He works so hard and is now getting the rewards. He's a good player to work with."
