SMITH ON TAMING OF SHREWS

2 March 2013

Boss reflects on the action...

SADDLERS' boss, Dean Smith has reflected upon our latest victory as we overcame the challenge of Shrewsbury Town by three goals to one.

"It was a really pleasing performance," he said. "We always knew it was going to be tough, but we were the better team out there and deserved the win.

"The lads deserve full credit; they worked tirelessly out there and used the ball really well. My only criticism was that we sat back a bit too much after we went three goals up.

"But we scored some good goals. It's five in four days for Will now. I never feel like he is going to miss when we have a penalty. He's blossoming well, bu there were excellent performances all over the pitch.

"It was nice to see Craig Westcarr get his name on the scoresheet. He got a round of applause from the lads in the dressing room at the end. As a striker it always plays on your mind when you don't score, but he links the game up well and has good knowledge. He knows when to slow the pace down or pick it up and he has done well for us.

"We were the better team today and now we look forward to the next challenge."
