Second-string draw with Burton...

THE SADDLERS' second-string played out a 1-1 draw against Burton Albion on Tuesday afternoon.

"It was a good footballing performance," said boss, Neil Woods. "We took the lead when Ashley Hemmings headed home a cross from Kieron Morris.

"We failed to take full advantage of the possession we had in the opening period and our hosts were able to equalise just before the break.

"We were a lot more positive after the break, playing some decisive football. The players took on board what was said to them during the break and in the end we were unlucky not to win the game."

The Saddlers fielded trialists Josh Hawker - son of former player, Phil - and Omani Sterling, who came on in the second half.

WALSALL: R. Jones, George, Benning, Purkiss, Holden, Featherstone, Morris (Kinsella), Hawker, Hemmings, Baxendale (Sterling), Bowerman. Subs not used: Ashmore, Williams, Grof.
