PATERSON PLAYING HIS PART

18 March 2013

Wide-man happy to be making a contribution...

JAMIE Paterson set The Saddlers on our way to a dramatic late comeback against Crawley Town on Saturday.

The talented wide-man notched his 11th goal of the season in the final minute of the game to reduce the arrears before Will Grigg grabbed a stoppage time leveller.

"It was a tough game and it shows the character of the team that we were able to come back and get something out of it," he said. "Everyone was happy with the way in which we stuck to our task and came back.

"We had chances but we didn't really play our A game, to be fair, so it could prove to be a big point for us. Crawley are a good side and they played well whereas we fell below the standards that we have set ourselves, so to come away with a result is a big boost for us.

"We now look forward to the next game which we know will be a tough one as Hartlepool have picked up recently.

"It's building up to an exciting end to the season; anyone in the top 11 still has a chance for automatic promotion let alone the play-offs.

"There are some big games coming up for us, so it's going to be exciting because these are the type of games that you want to be involved in.

"The fans have really got behind us as well and they played a key role on Saturday. Everyone kept believing and we got our reward to keep the unbeaten run going.

"From a personal point of view, I'm just happy to be putting in good performances to help the team challenge near the top. It's nice to chip in with a few goals as well along the way but I'm just taking it one game at a time.

"Our run has put us in the spotlight and it's testament to the hard work of the Gaffer, staff and players here."
